Madoka customises her clothes as a form of cosplay, and frequently incorporates auctioned ex-clothing of previous Ultimate Students, all of which have been acquired through exorbitant bids. Her most prized of these items are boots once belonging Junko Enoshima, Kyouko Kirigiri's old tie and Sayaka Maizono's former uniform skirt; all of which she incorporates into her 'default' outfit.

Her typical outfit includes a yellow-collared shirt, a bright blue tie and semi-pleated skirt, yellow knee-high socks, black boots, and most recognisable; a baggy brown sweater with a special, multi-coloured 'HOPE' design on the anterior. Madoka has stated that she designed and embroidered this herself as a reference to past SHSL Hope talents.

In NG and Reunion verses, Madoka's hair has been cut into a bob-style, kept her usual pink-maroon colour. She is usually seen in business-professional suits, namely black-and-white theme consisting of blazers and pencil skirts. This is a stark contrast to to the bright and bold constructions she wears in her youth; showcasing the growth in her personality from over-the-top to professional.

Personality[]

Although Madoka can appear rash and vulgar at surface level, she can be rather sarcastic and cynical, also proving herself to be great observer of human behaviour. At her core, Madoka is a deeply lonely person who wants people to like her. In fact, her constant brushes with rejection have ultimately lead her to a very deep-seated fear of abandonment. Madoka desires normal relationships, but due to her extreme personality, has struggled in the past with maintaining friendships. She has a habit of developing deep obsessions with fantastical things, as well as a tendency to cross boundaries with her antics; a forced product of her 'Fangirl' persona, which does seem to fade considerably over time.

Madoka is shameless, often open to expressing her thoughts and feelings; both the good and the bad. She has a blunt, crass way of speaking that is often considered inappropriate or offensive. Her blatant nature and openness can also be a 'breath of fresh air' to others, as she is not afraid to express her thoughts. A lot of her interpersonal conflicts stem from her not being aware of the weight of her own words and actions, leaving others exasperated, exhausted or annoyed.

Although she presents herself as very careless and outgoing on a surface level, Madoka can be very calculating, especially when it comes to getting information or planning something for self-gain. She’s incredibly street smart, creative and has out-of-the-box problem solving skills, often through sudden epiphanies. Madoka may grow cold or hold grudges toward people in cases where she has been physically hurt (as she is often too weak to fight back) or has felt greatly offended. Despite this, Madoka has trouble saying 'no' to doing favours or lending her talents to people, even enemies, as she ultimately seems to crave validation, and cares about being valued by others.

In regard to her talent, although Madoka may know excessive amounts of information on an individual, when getting to know them on a deep level, she will often not bring up what she knows unless she is specifically prompted on it. Like this, she often lets others reveal what they want to share with her at their own pace.

History[]

From childhood, Madoka had difficulties associating with her peers. She was often distracted, living in fantasy, and tended to see the world differently to the other children her age. Because of this, and the association her peer's parents had with Madoka's mother, she found it very difficult to make friends throughout her childhood, and often 'tried too hard' to make friends, pushing the other children away from her with her enthusiasm.

Sometime prior to her early school life, Madoka met Katsuo Harada with her father, Ryuuji. The two immediately bonded over their technological gifts, and seeing Madoka make a friend, prompted Ryuuji to ask Katsuo to 'take care' of his daughter; a burden which would see Katsuo through for many years.

When Madoka was seven, she invited 105 people from her school to her birthday party, which nobody showed up to. Seeing her distraught, her parents decided to celebrate her birthday with her. She was able to show her family the toy robot she'd constructed on her own, and was very proud of it. This would later become one of Madoka's most treasured memories.

Soon after this, Madoka was in and out of therapy after putting glass shards in her classmate's pencil case, after a joking suggestion from her father, Ryuji Tsukagoshi, when asking him how to deal with bullies. Madoka continued struggle with friendships, but quickly developed a higher interest in technology, due to her growing hyperfixation; a long-running spy manga she read as a child.

At the age of nine, Madoka was already communicating online with strangers, and this lead to an incident where she was kidnapped by an individual known as Hamadachi, who had groomed her through an online game. Madoka was kept tied up in his barn after being brutally assaulted by Hamadachi, left to die on the freezing cold floor, hearing nothing but the sounds of the animals- this triggering in her an intense fear of them. Her family was quick to initiate a search, and she was found, with the perpetrator promptly arrested.

Following this incident, Madoka's younger brother, Yuutaro, became extremely attached to her- refusing to sleep in his own room and constantly wanting to be around for her. This was numbed down shortly after their mother constructed a small laptop containing AI copies of herself, Ryuuji and Madoka for him to talk to in his room.

During the Tragedy, Madoka became very sick. In an attempt to help Madoka, her cousin, Shuu Tsukagoshi found his mother's alcohol stash and gave it to her under the belief that it was 'special medicine'. Madoka, intoxicated and suffering from hallucinations, ended up shooting her parents and younger brother, under the impression that they were intruders. This left Madoka's aunt, Ikue Tsukagoshi heartbroken, yet unaware that it had actually been Madoka who had pulled the trigger on their family.

During the Recovery Period, Madoka lived with both Ikue and Shuu, although the family seemed to be broken. Madoka and Shuu from guilt, and Ikue from losing her loved ones. Madoka seemed to change in personality, often dry, sarcastic and bitter toward others in her life. This attitude only lasted for a short period of time, and half way into middle school, Madoka developed an obsession with Kibougamine Academy.

Prior to attending Kibougamine herself, Madoka attended a school for the technologically gifted, alongside Shuu, where the students were trained in information technology, as well as many other areas in technology.

Her attitude brightened up, although she was badly bullied by her peers due to her obsessions. This had a negative effect on Madoka, as her self-hatred only grew. Pushing past it, she started to lash back at the bullies aggressively with revenge tactics. Disgusted with herself, Madoka cut her hair and varied her attitude until she was completely different.

She began acting out, doing crazy things for attention, even going so far as to encourage sexual exploitation directed at herself. Not long after jumping into these habits, Madoka met Keiji Handsome and became sexually involved with him. This she gave up after becoming pregnant with his baby at just fourteen, and having to abort the child.

Despite Madoka being crushed by this, she resolved not to tell Keiji about this, but merely cut off their relationships. Keiji, triggered by her sudden abandonment, used his talent to force her to sleep with him in order to make her stay.

Madoka attended Kibougamine after being scouted for her intense enthusiasm involving the school.

Relationships[]

Yuutaro Tsukagoshi[]

Yuutaro was Madoka's younger brother. Despite Madoka having difficulty with her peers, she was able to establish a firm and caring relationship him. Yuutaro seemed to care and admire her above anybody else in the world. From infancy, he would cling to Madoka, often play with her and even refuse to sleep anywhere else but in a room with her. Madoka cared about him, and would often dedicate special time to entertaining him.

During the Tragedy, Madoka shot and killed Yuutaro while hallucinating. She feels immense guilt over his death.
